Dog Gagging

Everyone loves there pets and even a small problem to them makes us feel the owner uncomfortable. In the same way dog gagging is also a very common problem among the dogs. Gagging is when the dog feels like choking or suffocating internally and sometime start coughing because of it. Though it is not a big problem for dogs but the pet owner should know about the symptoms of gagging and should be ready with a precautionary measure or cure for such things. Gagging among dogs can happen due to many reasons like irritation in the respiratory organs or may be because of the pressure build up in the respiratory organs. If airways in the lungs are filled up with some kind of fluid this also causes gagging. In the more serious way it can be one of the symptoms for heart disease or cancer of some time among the dogs. Therefore it should be taken care well.

Dog Gagging

The dog gagging can be diagnosed by the veterinary doctor by making the dog go through some of the test. The test can be a blood test or a urine test. The doctor may prescribe an ultrasound or a radiography too if he detects anything of serious nature. These tests in all probability reveal the reason for gagging in the dog. After these test the doctor comes to know about the actual cause of the gagging and starts the treatment accordingly. The treatment may include medicines like antibiotics and syrups which are used to reduce any kind of inflammation in the respiratory organ or may be for clear infection in the airways and expand them for smooth breathing.

The complications can arise if dog gagging are left uncured or are ignored as it may take the shape of serious disease in the advance stage. This gagging in the dog may cause vomiting to them and if it becomes a regular affair then it give rises to other infection and can cause opening to different diseases. The gagging can also leads to heart diseases as internally it causes a lot of pressure on the heart and lungs.

If it is only gagging or coughing then it may be a simple affair and can be treated normally with simple drugs and antibiotics but if there is sneezing and nasal drops along with gagging and fast breathing is also happening then it again indicates to serious respiratory problems which should be reported to the veterinary doctor as soon as possible.
